RE: 5-yr Capital Plan
The City of Janesville is currently looking at the 2012 Note Issue appropriations. As part
of that program each department submitted projects for consideration in 2012, but also
for the next 5 years (for projections and planning purposes). This past spring I submitted
several projects for the 2012-2016 Capital Planning Program, based on the projected
needs of the library.
2012 Note Issue $95,000 RFID upgrade/expansion of the sorter, new phone
system, replacement email server, Fines & Fees kiosk (to accept
credit/debit payments)
2013 Note Issue $75,000 Children’s Room remodel (focus on parenting
involvement, early-childhood development), lighting, electrical,
shelving, furniture
2014 Note Issue $100,000 Roof repair (spray-on coating that will preserve the
roof for another 10 years). The roof was built to last 20 years, and
it will be 18 in 2014.
2015 Note Issue $140,000 Carpet replacement and remodel of the main traffic
areas of the library.
$75,000 RFID upgrade, replacement (self-check stations,
equipment, possible sorter upgrades)
2016 Note Issue $125,000 Computer replacement (5-yr replacement schedule)
The 2012 Note Issue is a definite figure based on estimates that we have received. The
2013 figure is a best guess though we will be receiving estimates this fall. The 2014
figure is an estimate from our roofing contractor, and the 2015 and 2016 figures are
estimates based off previous projects here at the library. As always these projects can be
changed or adjusted as new information becomes available. At the Library Board meeting
I will have additional financial information based on our current debt and the impact that
these projects would have on the budget.
