Levitt SUBJECT: Committee Appointments Request I request the Council confirm the appointments of the Manager requiring confirmation. Recommendation I request the Council confirm the appointments of the Manager requiring confirmation. Motion I move to confirm the appointments of the Manager requiring confirmation. Summary Recently the Citizens Advisory Committee on Appointments met to make their recommendations for citizen nominees for the Citizens Board of Review. The unapproved minutes of the Committee’s meeting, a listing of all citizens that volunteered (fact sheets) and the application forms for those recommended are included for your reference. Eligibility To be eligible for an appointment to the Board of Review, individuals must have interest or knowledge in the committee’s subject matter and be a city resident. Recommendations for City Manager Appointments (confirmed by entire Council) Citizens Board of Review 1 vacancy (Alternate #1); 1 vacancy (Alternate #2) Phillip YossI am The Committee recommends for the Alternate #1 vacancy; appointing Phillip Yoss for the Alternate #1 vacancy . Record of Citizen Advisory Committee on Appointments June 4, 2012 Page 1 Meeting of the City of Janesville Citizen Advisory Committee on Appointments held in the Municipal Building first floor conference room on June 4, 2012 Committee Members Present: Ron Combs, Judith Detert-Moriarty, Larry Squire Staff Present: Rebecca Smith, Richard Haviza, Al Hulick Agenda Items Roll Call The meeting began at approximately 1:35PM with Combs, Detert-Moriarty, andSquire present. Squire served as the temporary meeting chair. Presentations regarding role and purpose of the Citizens Boardof Review and Sustainable Janesville Committee Smith introduced Haviza and Hulick and informed the committee that they would share information regarding the Citizens Board of Review and Sustainable Janesville Committee, respectively, as requested by the Committee at the March meeting. Haviza shared an overview of the Board of Review, including the role and purpose and attributes that are helpful for Board of Review volunteers. Hulick shared an overview of the Sustainable Janesville Committee, including therole and purpose of the committee, projects the committee is working on,such as the Green Action Plan and attributes that are helpful for Sustainable Janesville volunteers. Selection of recommended nominees for the following Boards, Commissions and Committees Citizens Board of Review Following committee discussion,Squire motioned to recommend Phillip Yoss fill the Alternate #1 vacancy. Combs seconded the motion and the vote was 3-0-0 in favor.The committee shared they did not have a recommendation forthe Alternate #2 vacancy and suggested additional volunteers be sought. Matters Not on the Agenda Smith shared that the next time there is a vacancy on another committee, the appointment committee vacancy will also be announced. At the next meeting the appointment committee should also elect a chair and the committee will hear a presentation from a Police and Fire Commission staff representative.
