1.Call to Order: Bruce called the meeting to order at 5:15 PM
2.Comments from the Public: None.
3.Minutes of the November 28, 2011 regular meeting “C”: A motion was made by Tim
and seconded by Susan to approve the consent agenda. Motion carried.
4.Certificate of Appropriateness 2012-01,
a.Rebuilding with minor changes including a new roof.
b.Update based on codes for the interior which are required
c.Will reuse one of the older windows
d.One change will be the double patio doors
e.James notes that Anda’s son seems to have a real sensitivity to the historic
development and will try to replicate the gable ends which was the only significant
architectural feature that James and Bruce noted.
f.Susan Motioned and seconded by Tim. Motion carried.
5.Tallman Arts Festival – August 5, 2012
a.Commission agrees we should participate and we will make a staffing schedule at a
later date.
b.Gale will take care of the entry and will check on the boards to see if they need
updating.
6.Discussion of Historic Expo
a.The commission has asked Jackie Wood if we can reserve the Olde Towne Mall on
Saturday, May 5, 2012
b.Historic Preservation Awards
i.Residential, Commercial, and Individual
c.Jackie Wood suggested the Tallman House and some of us would like to take a look.
i.Stacie and Britten will contact Joel at the Historical Society and schedule a
time to see it before the next meeting.
d.Possible Presenters
i.Chuck Ryberg and Brad Cantrell to talk about the Tallman house restorations
ii.Viking Building Restorations which does building restorations and masonry
work.
iii.Rick Fletcher (Citizens for Preservation)
7.Review of WisDOT USH 14 & STH 11 Corridor Study
a.The DOT would like alternative routes for drivers to get to Madison because of
Interstate 90 construction.
b.Bruce also received an email from Michael McQuillen whom is the project manager
from Heritage Research, Ltd. asking for answers regarding a few properties along
the proposed route.
i.Gale will respond to the email.
8.Matters not on the Agenda
a.515 st. Lawrence
i.Submit for building permit or remove the addition
b.Tom Jeffris sent over the Mineral Point’s Guidelines of Historic Preservation
c.Downtown Historic Overlay District
i.When we bring the Overlay back up we will ask the Downtown
Development Alliance for a formal request to proceed with going back to the
Plan Commission. For right now we will wait a few months.
ii.Outreach at Historic Preservation Expo and Tallman Arts Festival
1.James suggests a survey to be completed.
