ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
PUBLIC WORKS BID SCHEDULE “B” – 2012
The City of Janesville, Wisconsin hereby gives notice that it will receive sealed bids for the
following listed Public Work:
C2012-4 STREET RESURFACING
– For furnishing all the labor, materials, equipment,
and doing all the work necessary for the construction and completion of
approximately 20,000 tons asphalt paving on existing streets, including 120,000
S.Y. cold milling; 22,000 S.Y. asphalt pavement removal; 4,500 S.Y. cracking
and seating concrete pavement; 8,000 L.F. epoxy pavement markings; 8,500
C.Y. unclassified excavation; 17,000 ton limestone base construction; and
miscellaneous construction. (Quest #1816010)
C2012-5 CURB & GUTTER AND SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT
– For furnishing all the
labor, materials, equipment, and doing all the work necessary for the
construction and completion of approximately 16,000 L.F. curb and gutter
replacement; 35,000 S.F. sidewalk/driveways; 200 S.Y. full depth concrete
pavement patching; grass terrace restoration; 500 S.F. replacement concrete
sidewalk in various locations. (Quest #1816050)
C2012-6 MANHOLE REHABILITATION/RECONSTRUCTION
– For furnishing all the
labor, materials, equipment, and doing all the work necessary for the structural
rehabilitation/reconstruction and associated street restoration of approximately
80 existing sanitary sewer, water valve, and storm sewer manholes on existing
paved streets. (Quest #1816061)
C2012-7 PALMER DRIVE BRIDGE RAILING REPLACEMENT
– For furnishing all the
labor, materials, equipment, and doing all the work necessary for the
installation of approximately 204 L.F. City-provided painted tubular steel railing
(DOT Type F); construction of 204 L.F. combination concrete sidewalk with
integral cutoff wall; removal and disposal of 204 L.F. existing stone
masonry/timber railing; traffic control; asphalt pavement restoration and

C2012-8 WATER AND SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
– For furnishing all the
labor, materials, equipment, and doing all the work necessary for the
replacement and abandonment of approximately 2,700 L.F. existing 1-1/2”-8”

watermain (and replacement of associated lead/steel water services);
replacement of approximately 25 sanitary, storm and water valve manholes;
and associated street restoration. (Quest #1816299)
2:00 P.M. LOCAL TIME ON WEDNESDAY, THE 15TH
Sealed bids will be received until
DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2012
.All bids shall be addressed to the City Clerk’s Office, City of
Janesville Municipal Building, 18 North Jackson Street, P.O. Box 5005, Janesville,
Wisconsin, 53547, and enclosed in a SEALED ENVELOPE, marked with the name and
address of the bidder and contract title for which the bid is being submitted. All bidders shall
bid in accordance with, and shall bid upon, the bid forms included in the Contract
Documents. Bids will be opened in the Council Chambers at 2:01 P.M. on the same date.
The above Public Work will be let to the lowest responsible bidder and must be performed in
accordance with the plans, specifications, and contracts on file with the City Clerk.
No bid will be read or considered unless accompanied by a certified check equal to 10
percent of the bid or a bid bond in equal amount, payable to the City as guaranty that if the
bid is accepted, the bidder will execute and file the proper contract and performance bond
within ten days from the date the lowest responsible bidder's bid is accepted. In case the
bidder fails to execute such contract and performance bond within the time set by the City,
the check or bid bond shall be forfeited to the City as liquidated damages.

The wage scales to be paid on these projects are included in the Contract Documents, as
well as on file in the City Clerk’s Office, and all work is subject to Section 66.293 of
Wisconsin’s Statutes.
PROOF OF RESPONSIBILITY
forms in accordance with Section 66.0901(2) Wisconsin Statutes
12:00 NOON, WEDNESDAY,
must be filed in the Engineering Division Office not later than
FEBRUARY 1, 2012
. The form is contained in the Contract bidding documents and also available
at www.ci.janesville.wi.us/bids. Forms shall show sufficient financial ability, equipment, and
experience to perform the Contract. The City’s decision regarding qualifications shall be final.
Said work shall be commenced by, and shall be entirely completed by, the dates set in the
proposal for the specific work.

The determination of the lowest responsible bid will be decided by the City Engineer, subject
to review by the City Council. The Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
No bidder may withdraw his bid within 45 days after the actual date of the bid opening.
