That motion passed unanimously 5-0-0. b.Committee member Backenkeller made a motion seconded by Committee member Bishop to appoint Ann Hyzer as the Committee Vice Chair Person. That motion passed unanimously 5-0-0. IV.PUBLIC COMMENT Neil Deupree – League Of Women Voters – informed the Committee of the League of Women Voters upcoming book study group. The Committee will be reading and discussion Eaarth by Bill Mckibben on September 24. Deupree also announced September 24 as the thth World Day of Action. V.CONSIDERATION OF COMMENDATIONS The Committee recommended commendations for Frank Perrotto and the League of Women Voters for their work in sustainability. VI.SUBCOMMITEE UPDATES a.Green Action Plan subcommittee update (Rollette, Backenkeller) Backenkeller indicated that she would contact the City Council to gauge their support of the Green Tier Community Presentation at the Committees May 17 meeting. The Committee also suggested th that the Administration look into an RFP for consulting services for the Green Tier Community Program. b.RAH Program subcommittee update (Backenkeller) Backenkeller asked the group for any potential volunteers to help assist at the Rock Around The Block Event on Sunday August 28. th Anyone interested should contact Julie. c.Solid Waste Alternatives subcommittee update (Backenkeller) d.Natural Step Discussion (Rollette) Committee member Rollette provided a written update for the Natural Step Study Circle Discussion. Rollette suggested the following schedule to move forward: July 19 – Forward, Preface, Introduction, Chapters 1-5 th August 16 – Chapters 6-10 th September 21 – Chapters 11-14 st October 18 – Chapters 15-18 and Epilogue th e.Committee Publicity (Conley) VII.NEW BUSINESS a.None VIII.CITY STAFF UPDATE (Hulick) Hulick was approached by Stan Stricker to discuss sustainability during the morning radio show. The Committee recommended that Hulick and Rollette speak on behalf of the Committee. Hulick informed the group of the June 25 E-Waste Recycling event that was put on by th Janesville Crime Stoppers. Hulick informed the Committee that the City was awarded $400,000 in USESPA Brownfield Site Assessment Grants. Hulick also informed the Committee that Duane Brewer of JATV had attended the Midwest Renewable Fair and would like to share some of his findings with the Committee at a future date. IX.CITY COUNCIL UPDATE (Rashkin) None X.MATTERS NOT ON THE AGENDA Bishop asked if the Committee or Administration could look into having satellite composting and recycling facilities throughout the Community.
