RE: Teacher Loan Cards
In your packet you will find a letter written by Sharon Grover, Head of Youth Services,
that is addressed to area educators. In her letter Sharon is proposing a change to how we
administer Teacher Loan Cards. In the past an individual at each school was appointed to
manage the cards and sign them out to teachers when needed. Each school was allowed to
have up to 6 cards. It was a cumbersome process and is not very effective or efficient.
Working with Michelle Dennis, Head of Circulation, Sharon and Michelle came up with
a process whereby individual teachers, those who work in Janesville or happen to live in
Janesville, may apply directly for a Teacher Loan Card. Each teacher would assume
responsibility for the card (further details about the process are included in Sharon’s
letter).
I would recommend that the Library Board approve this change to our borrowing policy,
which would allow “Any educator living in Janesville or who works for a school,
preschool or licensed daycare center within the School District of Janesville, be eligible
to apply for a Teacher Loan Card.”
