YMCA. Trevor Wallace informed the Committee that the YMCA would like to explore options
before deciding on a choice for advertising consistency/template and provided some examples
from a local sign company. Sue Wesson also stated that Youth Football would like to look at
other options before deciding on the finalized template for advertising. Rebecca Smith
suggested a work group review the options for advertising signage and come up with a design
template during the winter months while the Coalition isn’t meeting to provide.
Maintenance/Replacement of Original Signs
Rebecca Smith shared that if the Coalition decides to replace all 16 donor signs, the City would
be able to pay half the cost.
Club Reports
Dave Ellis from Youth Baseball/Softball stated that Girls Softball is over for the season. He
th
informed the Committee that construction on the concession stand began October 26.
Janesville Youth Baseball is planning to have teams for 7&8 year olds, 9&10 year olds, and
11&12 year olds and Youth Baseball was approached to collaborate with American Legion
Baseball. Janesville Youth Baseball/Softball grew 30% in 2010 and are anticipating
approximately 800 participants next year.
th
Bob Weilbrenner from Rock Soccer reported that November 6 will be the last day of Rock
Soccer games at the Complex. He also informed the Coalition that there is a possibility of
getting older kids from Clinton to collaborate and join the Rock Soccer group.
Gregg Davis from Youth Football reported that football is done for the season.
Matters Not on the Agenda
Rebecca Smith shared information regarding bus service to the Youth Sports Complex. There
will be an opportunity for the Coalition members to share their comments when route changes
are planned for later in 2011 due to the new hospital opening.
Steve Ellis inquired about restroom cleaning and the recycling program at the Complex.
Rebecca Smith stated that the Parks could organize two cleanings per week with the contracted
cleaning company which is the same that is done at the other restroom facility at the Complex.
Expanding the recycling program is not in the budget for 20111 but Rebecca Smith will examine
whether any of the existing recycling could be moved to the Complex. The members discussed
the possibly Janesville Youth Baseball/Softball should handle the cleaning of restrooms if they
need to be cleaned on a daily basis which would enable the Park staff to take on different
operational items.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:20 PM. The next meeting of the
th
Coalition will be March 16, 2011.
