The meeting was called to order at 5:15 PM by Vice-Chairperson Steve Ellis in the 1 Floor
Conference Room of the Municipal Building. Because there was not a quorum, the Committee was
stth
unable to approve the minutes of the July 21 and the July 28 meetings.
Club Reports
Dave Ellis from the Janesville Youth Baseball/Softball group reported that the high school girl’s
softball program started this week. The baseball/softball fields have been over seeded recently and
will be ready for play in the spring.
Trevor Wallace from the YMCA reported that soccer and flag football began this week.
Bob Weilbrenner from Rock Soccer reported that they have eleven teams this fall including two high
school teams which is more than they had last fall. This fall each age group in the soccer program
was filled.
Gregg Davis from Youth Football reported football is underway. They have ten teams in the lower
division and eight teams in the higher division, plus a traveling parochial team. There have been no
major issues.
Review of Advertising Policy
th
Rebecca Smith shared the advertising policy that the City Council approved at the September 13
Council meeting. This policy included changes that had been made by Rebecca Smith from the
rd
Council’s comments at their August 23 Council meeting. The Coalition was unable to approve the
advertising policy due to lack of a quorum with only five members present at the meeting. Rebecca
informed the members that once the advertising policy is approved the next step would be for the
Coalition to begin reviewing a template for consistency. The Community Development staff will assist
th
with this process. The members present discussed meeting October 6 which would be earlier than
the normally scheduled October monthly meeting. By meeting earlier in October it would give the
Coalition more time to discuss consistency options because there would be no meeting in that room
location following the Coalition meeting.
Matters Not on the Agenda
Rebecca Smith shared a thank you letter from St. Paul’s School regarding their use of the Complex
th
for their track meet held on September 10. Rebecca Smith also shared information that Forward
Janesville will include the sports groups in their next Community Guide publication, as the Coalition
had requested earlier this year. Rebecca obtained contact info from each group to send to Forward
Janesville.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:45 PM on a motion made by Dave Ellis
and seconded by Gregg Davis. The motion passed unanimously by the members that were present.
