Minutes May 19, 2010 Meeting
th
The minutes of the May 19 meeting were changed in regard to Youth Football
receiving approval from the School District regarding registration locations. The
corrected minutes were approved unanimously by the six members present on a
motion by Gregg Davis and a second by Bob Weilbrenner.
Club Reports
Bob Weilbrenner reported that Rock Soccer will have no official games until August.
There will likely be ten full travel teams which is one more than last year. It was also
reported that the new director for the in-house program will be starting soon.
Dave Javan reported that the YMCA tee ball and baseball started for the summer and
there was increase in numbers especially in the tee ball area. The British Soccer Camp
is seeing good numbers. Registration for fall programs will begin in July. Dave has
been promoted to YMCA Membership Director and may resign from the Coalition once
the new Sports Director passes his probation.
Steve Ellis reported that Little League, Babe Ruth and Girls Softball are now playing
games at the Youth Sports Complex. Youth Baseball has ordered port-a-potties to be
used while their concession/bathroom building is being constructed.
Review of Advertising Policy
The advertising policy issue was postponed and will be reviewed at the July meeting
because there were only six Coalition members present at the June meeting.
Matters Not on the Agenda
Rebecca Smith shared information that the Parks staff will be holding a neighborhood
meeting with the Optimist Park neighbors and are requesting to use the Youth Sports
Coalition pavilion for the meeting. The Coalition members present did not have
concerns regarding this request.
Bob Weilbrenner suggested that the Coalition groups be included in the Forward
Janesville Community Business Guide. Rebecca Smith will contact Forward Janesville
regarding the suggestion.
th
Dave Javan shared his vision that the sports groups continue to work together. The 5
grade coordination between Rock Soccer and the YMCA has slowed somewhat due to
changes in sports directors.
There being no further business, Steve Ellis made a motion, seconded by Dave Javan
to adjourn the meeting. This motion passed unanimously and the meeting was
adjourned at 5:50 PM.
