ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
PUBLIC WORKS BID SCHEDULE “E” – 2010
The City of Janesville, Wisconsin hereby gives notice that it will receive sealed bids for the
following listed Public Work:
C2010-11 Sanitary Sewer Lining & Point Repairs
–
For furnishing all the labor,
materials, equipment, and doing all the work necessary for the trenchless
lining repair (cured-in-place lining method) of approximately 21,000 L.F. 8”-20”
diameter sanitary sewer, manhole-to-manhole; and approximately 5 8”
diameter point repairs of varying lengths under existing paved streets.
C2010-12 Sanitary Sewer Lateral Lining
–
For furnishing all the labor, materials,
equipment, and doing all the work necessary for the lining of approximately 55
sanitary sewer laterals (4”-6” diameter) on 8”-12” diameter sewer mains under
existing paved streets.
C2010-13 Sanitary Sewer Siphon Improvements
– For furnishing all the labor,
materials, equipment, and doing all the work necessary for cleaning,
televising, and making improvements to four sanitary sewer siphon
systems running under the Rock River. The four siphon systems are
Racine Court, Old WWTP, Riverview, and New WWTP siphons. The four
systems include inlet and outlet structures for each system and piping of
various sizes. The improvements include demolition as required, new
covers and access hatches, internal walls and control gates, cleaning
control structures and siphon pipes, televising siphon pipes, cleaning
pipes that are clogged with debris, and a Bid alternative for
cured-in-place pipe lining of 350 linear feet of 36” pipe exiting the Old
WWTP outlet structure and running to an adjoining interceptor sewer.

Sealed bids will be received until

.All bids shall be addressed to the City Clerk’s Office, City of
Janesville Municipal Building, 18 North Jackson Street, P.O. Box 5005, Janesville,
Wisconsin, 53548, and shall be enclosed in a SEALED ENVELOPE, marked with the name
and address of the bidder and contract title for which the bid is being submitted. All
bidders shall bid in accordance with, and shall bid upon, the bid forms included in the
Contract Documents. Bids will be opened in the Council Chambers at 2:01 P.M. on the
same date. The above Public Work will be let to the lowest responsible bidder and must be

performed in accordance with the plans, specifications, and contracts on file with the City
Clerk.
No bid will be read or considered unless accompanied by a certified check equal to 10
percent of the bid or a bid bond in equal amount, payable to the City as guaranty that if the
bid is accepted, the bidder will execute and file the proper contract and bond within ten
days from the date the lowest responsible bidder's bid is accepted. In case the bidder fails
to execute such contract and bond within the time set by the City, the check or bid bond
shall be forfeited to the City as liquidated damages.
The form of contract and bond and questionnaire to show bidder's proof of responsibility in
accordance with Section 66.29(2) Wisconsin Statutes, as well as the plans and
specifications, are on file and may be obtained at the City Engineer's Office, Municipal
Building.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE
Plans and detailed specifications are scheduled to be available on
30, 2010
. For Contracts 2010-11 and -12, Contract Documents will be issued on a CD
and videos included on a separate DVD for a $30.00 non-refundable fee per contract. For
Contract 2010-13, contact City of Janesville Engineering Division at
aurits@ci.janesville.wi.us for a username and password to access electronic Contract
Documents and Drawings on the City FTP site at no charge. Standard Specifications for
Public Works Construction and plan holder lists are posted on the City’s web site.
The wage scales to be paid on these projects are included in the Contract Documents, as
well as on file in the City Clerk’s Office, and all work is subject to Section 66.293 of
Wisconsin’s Statutes.

Library; Engineering Department; Bidder’s Proof of Responsibility). Forms shall show
sufficient financial ability, equipment, and experience to perform the Contract. The
decision regarding qualifications shall be final.
Said work shall be commenced by, and shall be entirely completed by, the dates set in the
proposal for the specific work.
The determination of the lowest and best bid will be decided by the City Engineer, subject
to review by the City Council. The Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
No bidder may withdraw his bid within 45 days after the actual date of the bid opening.
