RE: Resource Library Contracts
Wisconsin Statute 43.16 states that "each public library system shall have at least one system
resource library.” Within the Arrowhead Library System (ALS), the Hedberg Public Library
serves as the resource library.
Services provided by resource libraries in Wisconsin typically include interlibrary loan
assistance, reference services, access to a larger collection of items and materials, and assistance
with the Wide Area Network (WAN). Reflecting the changes of being part of a shared system,
Ruth Ann Montgomery, Director of ALS, and I felt that it was time to update the Resource
Library Agreement between Hedberg and ALS. In creating this contract we borrowed concepts
from current resource and system library contracts (ex: agreement between the Oshkosh Public
Library and the Winnefox Library System).
Included in your board packet is an agreement for 2009 and 2010. We included a 2009
agreement as we have been providing these services to ALS, but had not formally adopted a
contract.
I would recommend that the Library Board adopt and approve the Library Resource Agreements
between ALS and the Hedberg Public Library for 2009 and 2010.
