AQUATICS UPDATE
Bonnie Davis provided an update concerning Aquatic operations. Bonnie stated that all
three pools will be compliant with the Virginia Graeme Baker Act before opening for the
season. Rockport Pool repairs have been completed and both Palmer and Riverside
wading pools are in the process of becoming compliant. She stated that we are one of
only a handful of communities that have become compliant for the 2009 swimming
season.
With the hot weather both Palmer wading pool and Rockport Pool were extremely busy.
To ensure the safety and well being of our patrons, shade tents were erected at
Rockport, water was handed out and patrons were reminded often to drink a lot of water
and seek shade if they became overheated. Rockport Pool experienced two days of
1,000 plus patrons.
The painting and caulking is completed at Riverside wading pool. The Virginia Graeme
Baker project has been inspected at Riverside and passed. The filtration system will be
th
up and running on July 16. The chain link fence will be installed this week. On
st
Monday, July 21 the Department of Health will conduct their inspection. If all goes well
nd
the wading pool will be open on July 22.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:50PM. The next meeting
th
is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, 2009.
