2. Minutes 06-09-09 JANESVILLE YOUTH SPORTS COALITION MEETING MINUTES TH TUESDAY, JUNE 9, 2009 4:45 PM YOUTH SPORTS COMPLEX 100 S. WUTHERING HILLS DRIVE Members Present: Craig Schuenke, Bob Weilbrenner, Sue Wesson, Dave Wesson, Dave Javan and Scott Lipker Staff Present: Rebecca Smith The meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM by Chairperson Sue Wesson at the Youth Sports Complex. Minutes May 12th, 2009 Meeting th The minutes of the May 12, 2009 meeting were approved unanimously on a motion by Craig Schuenke and seconded by Dave Javan. It was noted and corrected that under the section of Club Reports in the May 12 minutes that Dave Ellis (not Steve) shared at the Janesville Youth Baseball concession trailer was broken into and vandalized. Update of Use of YSC for Fourth of July Activities Two of the Youth Sports Coalition groups have indicated their desire to the Oddfellows group to have concessions at the Fourth of July festival. Neither group has heard back from the Oddfellows. Rebecca Smith will follow-up with the Oddfellows representative. The Oddfellows will have dumpsters present at the event and will be responsible for removing all trash. Dave Javan requested that the carnival park along the access road when they arrive for safety concerns. Rebecca Smith will share this request with the Oddfellows group. Club Reports Janesville Youth Football reported that their registration for football and the Wilson School scholarship students went well and they are expecting to have a full season. YMCA reported that tee-ball and baseball started and is going well. There was not a decline in registrations; however, more scholarships were requested. The spring soccer season went well. The YMCA will have the University of Wisconsin soccer coach doing a special soccer camp for three Mondays this fall. All schools and clubs are invited to participate. Rock Soccer has only a few soccer games left this season. They are working with a plumber regarding a water meter. Rock Soccer will be offering soccer practices on Thursdays from 5:30 – 7:30 PM for all age groups with the focus being on skills. Matters Not on the Agenda th Rebecca Smith reported several follow-up items from the May 12 meeting: ? Signs will be posted at the Youth Sports Complex prohibiting golf balls and driving. ? The parking lot lights are on a dusk to dawn timer. ? Rebecca will have further advertising information once she attends a special ad “webinar” and checks with the sign inspector. ? Rebecca will follow-up on the possibility of obtaining fencing for the Complex. ? There is an aerator available at City Services for the groups to use. However, the machine is old and may not be in the best condition. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:35 PM on a motion made by Scott Lipker and seconded by Dave Javan.
