The meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM by Chairperson Sue Wesson at the Youth
Sports Complex.
Minutes May 12th, 2009 Meeting
th
The minutes of the May 12, 2009 meeting were approved unanimously on a motion by
Craig Schuenke and seconded by Dave Javan. It was noted and corrected that under
the section of Club Reports in the May 12 minutes that Dave Ellis (not Steve) shared at
the Janesville Youth Baseball concession trailer was broken into and vandalized.
Update of Use of YSC for Fourth of July Activities
Two of the Youth Sports Coalition groups have indicated their desire to the Oddfellows
group to have concessions at the Fourth of July festival. Neither group has heard back
from the Oddfellows. Rebecca Smith will follow-up with the Oddfellows representative.
The Oddfellows will have dumpsters present at the event and will be responsible for
removing all trash. Dave Javan requested that the carnival park along the access road
when they arrive for safety concerns. Rebecca Smith will share this request with the
Oddfellows group.
Club Reports
Janesville Youth Football reported that their registration for football and the Wilson
School scholarship students went well and they are expecting to have a full season.
YMCA reported that tee-ball and baseball started and is going well. There was not a
decline in registrations; however, more scholarships were requested. The spring soccer
season went well. The YMCA will have the University of Wisconsin soccer coach doing
a special soccer camp for three Mondays this fall. All schools and clubs are invited to
participate.
Rock Soccer has only a few soccer games left this season. They are working with a
plumber regarding a water meter. Rock Soccer will be offering soccer practices on
Thursdays from 5:30 – 7:30 PM for all age groups with the focus being on skills.
Matters Not on the Agenda
th
Rebecca Smith reported several follow-up items from the May 12 meeting:
?
Signs will be posted at the Youth Sports Complex prohibiting golf balls and
driving.
?
The parking lot lights are on a dusk to dawn timer.
?
Rebecca will have further advertising information once she attends a special ad
“webinar” and checks with the sign inspector.
?
Rebecca will follow-up on the possibility of obtaining fencing for the Complex.
?
There is an aerator available at City Services for the groups to use. However,
the machine is old and may not be in the best condition.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:35 PM on a motion made
by Scott Lipker and seconded by Dave Javan. This motion was passed unanimously.

Coalition follow up items
No golfing signs
Parks installed no golfing/no feces signs the week of June 29.
Fencing for complex
At our meeting, I would like to examine the area with you to determine if this will impact any
nearby residents.
Mower next to football building
Staff noticed a mower being stored next to the football building. This location may become
attractive to adolescents and staff suggests it be moved to the barn or the Quonset hut for the
safety of the mower.
Fixing barn doors
Parks has fixed and re-hung the barn doors.
Additional signage
If you have a sign that you would like placed at the park, please provide me a photo/drawing of
what it would look like with the dimensions showing. I can then check with building services as
to whether it meets code requirements.
