Minutes of the Janesville Community Development Authority (CDA) Special Meeting
September 23, 2009
Present: CDA Members: Michael Bachmeyer, Sylvia Moore, George Fenn, Russ Steeber, Tom McDonald
Absent: CDA Member, Duke Ellingson
Also present: City Staff: Jennifer Petruzzello, Kelly Lee, Carrie Clark; Others: Lori Steeber, Karen Lisser, Andreah Briarmoon
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Bachmeyer.
Steeber suggested that prior to talking about funding any project that they consider removing those agencies from consideration
that are to receive no funding.
Steeber motioned, seconded by Bachmeyer, to not fund and remove from consideration for funding, the Salvation Army’s Pathways
project.
The motion passed with McDonald voting no.
McDonald motioned to remove the poverty project for funding consideration. He indicated although it may be an important forum,
the project could go into the general fund budget. The motion was seconded by Steeber and passed unanimously.
A motion by Fenn was made to remove the Girl Scouts from consideration for funding. The motion was seconded by Moore and
passed with Bachmeyer and McDonald voting no.
Discussion followed with each member offering a breakdown of funding allocations.
After each member presented their break-down of funding allocations, a motion was made by Steeber, seconded by Bachmeyer to
fund the following agencies:
Heathnet/ECHO : $38,000.00 each
Literacy Connection: 2,000.00
Neighborhood Action Team: 8,000.00
Summer Camp Scholarship: 3,000.00
Boys & Girls Club: 3,000.00
YWCA: 3,000.00
The motion passed with McDonald voting no.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 6:10 p.m.
