2. Minutes of 04-15-09
GOLF COURSE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
WEDNESDAY, April 15, 2009
Leisure Services Conference room
MEMBERS PRESENT: Clyde Hoeser, Curt Terry, Larry Cain, Mary Conway, Jan
Bruss and Steve Hiser
STAFF PRESENT: Tom Tautges, Jake Downing, Joe Schneider and Rebecca
Smith
The meeting was called to order at 7PM by Chairperson Curt Terry at the Leisure Services
Conference room.
The minutes of the March 18 meeting were approved unanimously on a motion by Clyde
Hoeser and a second by Steve Hiser.
REQUEST FOR BLACKHAWK GOLF COURSE PASS
A discussion was had regarding implementing a Blackhawk only season pass, based on a
request from a citizen. Following comments from a citizen, as well as group discussion
regarding the advantages and disadvantages of a Blackhawk only season pass, Crown
Golf will examine a 20 play card option and bring details to the next meeting. A 20 play
card would be easier to implement now that the season has started in comparison to
another season pass.
MANAGER’S REPORT
Tom shared that season pass sales have increased, with people purchasing passes that
have not done so previously. Joe shared that much yard work has been completed
recently, including clearing a ditch and holding controlled burns. Mowing has also started.
Blackhawk is still experiencing high water level issues on fairway 8 due to an elevated
water table. Joe and Rebecca have been in contact with Larry Buetzer of the Engineering
Division and meetings have taken place on site. The Committee voted unanimously in
favor of staff and Crown Golf working together to develop a solution to the water problem
on fairway 8.
Curt Terry suggested the cups/pin placements be changed more frequently. Joe shared
that early and late in the season they are not changed as frequently as they are in high
season. A committee member asked if the railroad tracks were fixed. They were fixed in
2008 and may look into other options for the future.
MATTERS NOT ON THE AGENDA
Rebecca and the City Manager will be meeting with Crown Golf corporate in May and an
update will be shared at the next meeting. Tom shared that Blackhawk was WSGA certified
and they need a computer to keep track of scores. Rebecca will check with IT and get back
to Tom. Tom also shared the water in the new water heater is cloudy; Rebecca asked Tom
to contact Tech Services if it’s not a simple aeration issue.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Clyde Hoeser and seconded by
Jan Bruss to adjourn the meeting at approximately 8PM.
