Minutes City of Janesville Historic Commission Minutes May 11, 2009 rd Community Development Conference Room 3 Floor 18 N. Jackson St., Janesville, WI Members Present: Dan Atwood, Bruce Dennis, Rich Fletcher, Tim Maahs, Janine Peterson, Susan Thompson, and Staff: Brad Cantrell. Absent: Ken Wolf Others Present: Christine Moore 1) Call to Order: Rich Fletcher, commission chair, called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. 2) Election of Officers for 2009/2010 (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary): A motion was made by Bruce Dennis and seconded by Tim Maahs to approve the current slate of officers to continue in their roles for the 2009/2010 term. Those officers are: Rich Fletcher, Chair; Dan Atwood, Vice-Chair; and Janine Peterson, Secretary. The motion carried. 3) Comments from Public: None. 4) Minutes of the April 27, 2009 regular meeting. ā€œCā€: A motion was made by Susan Thompson, seconded by Tim Maahs to approve the consent agenda item which included the minutes of the April 27, 2009 meeting. The motion carried. 5) Review of Certificate of Appropriateness 2009-01, 718 East Milwaukee Street (Atwood/Maahs): Sherry Wilkerson, property owner explained the work for the rebuilding of the front steps, back deck and steps stating they would be kept the same size. Tim Maahs stated the work was needed for safety especially the back deck and steps. He also stated the owner would be remounting the iron railings after sandblasting and power coated. Dan Atwood stated the steps were rotted. The owner stated the work would be green treated. A motion as made by Tim Maahs and seconded by Dan Atwood to approve the request as the work would meet the guidelines. The motion carried. 6) Discussion of May 2009 Preservation Expo: Members reviewed their assignments for the day. Set up will be Friday night at 6:00 p.m. Media promotion included: City of Janesville website; Convention & Visitors Bureau, Press Releases. 7) Preview of Downtown Projects: None. 8) Matters Not on the Agenda: a. Brad Cantrell stated the revenue from book receipts ranged from $2,000 - $3,000. An order needs to be placed for Historic Fourth Ward books. The commission may be able to utilize these dollars to help print the Downtown Guidelines. A suggested quantity for printing was 500. b. . Rich Fletcher stated there were 17 people at the Prospect Hill tour 9) Next Meeting – Tuesday, May 26, 2009 Adjournment: 10) A motion was made by Susan Thompson and seconded by Tim Maahs to adjourn the meeting at 6:45 p.m. The motion was carried.
