Advertisement For Bids Public Works Bid Schedule C-2009 23 February 2009 PART #1 CITY OF JANESVILLE ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS PUBLIC WORKS BID SCHEDULE “C” – 2009 The City of Janesville, Wisconsin hereby gives notice that it will receive sealed bids for the following listed Public Work: C2009-7 N. Washington/W. Memorial Drive Street Rehabilitation – For furnishing all the labor, materials, equipment, and doing all the work necessary for the construction and completion of 30,000 S.Y. asphalt pavement milling; 400 L.F. loop detector conduit; 300 L.F. traffic signal conduit; 1,200 L.F. loop detector wire; 3,000 S.Y. concrete pavement removal; 2,000 L.F. curb and gutter replacement; 4,000 S.F. concrete flatwork; 3,000 ton crushed stone base; 4,500 ton asphalt paving; 12,000 L.F. epoxy pavement markings; and traffic control. This is a Local Road Improvement Program project. C2009-8 Manhole Reconstruction – For furnishing all the labor, materials, equipment, and doing all the work necessary for the structural rehabilitation and associated street restoration of approximately 140 existing sanitary sewer, water valve, and storm sewer manholes on existing paved streets. C2009-9 Landfill Scale Replacement – For furnishing all the labor, materials, equipment, and doing all the work necessary to supply and install a new 100-ton scale at the City Landfill including removal of existing pit scale system. 2:00 P.M. LOCAL TIME ON WEDNESDAY, THE 25TH Sealed bids will be received until DAY OF MARCH, 2009. All bids shall be addressed to the City Clerk’s Office, City of Janesville Municipal Building, 18 North Jackson Street, Janesville, Wisconsin, 53548, and shall be enclosed in a SEALED ENVELOPE, marked with the name and address of the Bidder and Contract Title for which the bid is being submitted. All bidders shall bid in accordance with, and shall bid upon, the bid forms included in the Contract Documents. Bids will be opened in the Council Chambers at 2:01 P.M. on the same date. The above Public Work will be let to the lowest responsible bidder and must be performed in accordance with the plans, specifications, and contracts on file with the City Clerk. PUBLIC WORKS BID SCHEDULE “C” – 2009 23 FEBRUARY 2009 No bid will be read or considered unless accompanied by a certified check equal to 10 percent of the bid or a bid bond in equal amount, payable to the City as guaranty that if the bid is accepted, the bidder will execute and file the proper contract and bond within ten days from the date the lowest responsible bidder's bid is accepted. In case the bidder fails to execute such contract and bond within the time set by the City, the check or bid bond shall be forfeited to the City as liquidated damages. The form of contract and bond and questionnaire to show bidder's proof of responsibility in accordance with Section 66.29(2) Wisconsin Statutes, as well as the plans and specifications, are on file and may be obtained at the City Engineer's Office, Municipal Building. WEDNESDAY, MARCH Plans and detailed specifications are scheduled to be available on 4, 2009non-refundable . A $30.00 deposit is required for each set of Contract Persons requesting plans by mail shall include an additional Documents. non-refundable $10.00 mailing fee for each set. In addition, bidders are required to have a copy of the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction, which may be purchased at the City Engineering Office for $30.00 per copy. The wage scales to be paid on these projects are enclosed in the Contract Documents, as well as on file in the City Clerk’s Office, and all work is subject to Section 66.293 of Wisconsin’s Statutes. PROOF OF RESPONSIBILITY forms for this project must be filed in the Engineering 12:00 NOON, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11, 2009 Division Office not later than . Forms shall show sufficient financial ability, equipment, and experience to perform the Contract. The decision regarding qualifications shall be final. Said work shall be commenced by, and shall be entirely completed by, the dates set in the proposal for the specific work. The determination of the lowest and best bid will be decided by the City Engineer, subject to review by the City Council. The Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
