Agenda CITY OF JANESVILLE Common Council SPECIAL MEETING Notice and Agenda Tuesday, August 5, 2008 4:30 o’clock P.M. Council Chambers th 4 Floor Municipal Building 18 North Jackson Street Janesville, WI 53545 New Business: 1. Roll Call. 2. Pledge of Allegiance. 3. Consideration of a Motion to Convene into Closed session, pursuant to Section 19.85(1)(c) and part of (f) of the Wisconsin Statutes for the purpose of considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility, specifically interviewing one or more candidates for the position of Acting City Manager; selecting a person to whom to offer the position of Acting City Manager; considering other matters and/or taking other actions concerning an Acting City Manager, alone and/or in conjunction with Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(e) deliberating upon and conducting other specified public business whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session, specifically reviewing, discussing, and setting the negotiating/bargaining terms, conditions, compensation, and other provisions and conditions for an employment agreement for the position of Acting City Manager; and such other related matters as are authorized by law. 4. Conducting and acting upon such closed session interview(s), reviews, and discussions of financial and personal data of candidate(s), setting negotiation/bargaining terms, conditions, and provisions for such an employment agreement, deliberating and acting upon such interview(s), and other related matters, as noticed under Agenda Item No. 3. 5. Motion to Adjourn. th Noticed this 5 day of August, 2008 at 7:30 o’clock A.M. by Order and Directive of Janesville Common Council President Amy Loasching, pursuant to Wis. Stats. Section 64.07(5). NOTE: In addition to the customary posting and distribution of this Notice and Agenda to the news media, members of the public, and those persons who have specifically signed up for prior notice, this Notice and Agenda require personal service upon each individual Council Member at least six (6) hours prior to the meeting, pursuant to JGO 2.04.020, unless such notice Is waived, and Wis. Stats Sec. 62.11(2): “ 2.04.020 Special . Special meetings may be called by the president of the council, or by any two councilmen, or by the city manager by written notice as required by Section 62.11(2) of the Revised Statutes of Wisconsin; provided however, that such notice of a meeting may be waived by any member.” “62.11(2) Time of meeting. The council shall meet at least once a month, and on the first Tuesday unless a different day be fixed by the council. More frequent regular meetings may be established by the council, and the mayor may call a special meeting by written notice delivered personally to each member or left at the member's usual abode at least 6 hours before the meeting.
